Adventures In Healing: Danielle Finds Freedom From Anxiety

Welcome to my brand new blog series, where we get to connect with other people who are healing their chronic conditions naturally! My goal with these blog interviews, is to share success stories of real individuals who are finding freedom from health challenges, so more people can get the hope and encouragement they need to keep going. Healing naturally isn’t always easy, and it can be nice to see that there’s a light at the end of the tunnel.

I had the pleasure of meeting Danielle on Instagram, as part of the Medical Medium community, and she agreed to share her story here. So, let’s dive right in!

What symptoms, dis-eases, or diagnoses have you healed, or are currently healing?

I started Medical Medium in the hope to heal from severe anxiety and panic attacks. I not only healed from anxiety and panic attacks but I also healed tinnitus, heart palpitations, insomnia, and canker sores. After living with severe anxiety for 17 years I have some PTSD issues that I am now working on healing and I am also looking to heal my rosacea too.

Tell us a little bit about your health journey.

I first started feeling unwell soon after my second daughter was born, she is nearly 18 now. I had problems with fainting, nausea, vomiting, racing heart beat and uncontrollable shaking. I went to see so many specialists and had all the tests under the sun but they couldn’t tell me what was wrong or how to fix it. I was basically told I must be doing this to myself, it must be all in my head and I was sent to psychologists and psychiatrists, but they couldn’t help me either. Eventually it was affecting my life so badly that I had to go on medication. It got to the stage where every morning I would wake to nausea and severe anxiety, I could barely get out of bed but I still had to go to work and raise a family so I was constantly pushing myself to get through the next minute, then the next. It was torture. I wasn’t living I was existing in survival mode. Then one day I was in crying in my doctors office, confessing that I couldn’t keep living this way and she recommended I read Life Changing Foods by Anthony William, the Medical Medium.

What books, shows, podcasts, etc...were/are helpful for you?

My favourite book is Life Changing Foods. Because of this book my journey into healing with the Medical Medium began and it really has been life changing. After getting a taste of Anthony’s information in Life Changing Foods I was hungry to learn more so I bought all his other books too. I recommend getting them all, even if you think they don’t relate to you. There hasn’t been one book that I haven’t gained valuable information from. I listen to all his podcasts regardless of the topic as it helps to broaden your knowledge of why people get sick and what we can do prevent illness but the two I listened to over and over were ‘Anxiety and Depression’ and ‘Conquering Anxiety’. I also find listening to Anthony speak very calming, even when he gets really passionate! He makes me feel safe again by demystifying chronic illness and revealing the truth about healing.

Who has been instrumental in your journey to health?

To be honest in the beginning I found my journey to health to be very lonely and some comments from friends and family challenging. When I would talk to people I could tell they thought I was a little bit crazy putting my faith into the healing information of someone who talks to a spirit. So I looked to the Medical Medium Community on Instagram to find support from likeminded people. It took a while of feeling a little lost in the crowd but gradually I started to make connections with some great people. It also goes without saying that Anthony was instrumental in my healing but not just from the books he writes, His weekly radio shows, Insta and Facebook lives, his giveaways and challenges and daily posts on social media all helped to keep me motivated to stick with it and have faith that I could heal.

What are your top 5 favorite herbs or supplements?

Number one without a doubt is Lemon Balm. This humble little herb is amazing. It has such a calming effect on me and really brings down my anxiety. It also helped a lot with my insomnia.
B12 - really important for people with neurological problems.
Zinc for the immune system.
Ester C helps protect you from stress and helps the body to detox.
5-MTHF helps the body with methylation and converting vitamins and foods into energy. It also helps the fight or flight response and neurotransmitters.

What are some of your favorite healing foods or recipes?

My two best friends on this healing journey have been celery juice and the heavy metal detox smoothie, without them I wouldn’t be where I am today. I drink both every day. I’ve been following Medical Medium for about 18 months now and I haven’t missed a day yet. My favourite recipe at the moment is Anthony’s Lasagna cupcakes. I tend to make it in a big baking dish though and not as cupcakes. My whole family love it!

Tell us about some of your setbacks, and how you overcame them.

Early on I learned from Anthony that healing is not linear. You take three steps forward and two steps back. Whenever I had set backs I would remind myself this is all part of healing and in my mind I would hear Anthony say ‘Keep a light heart. Keep the faith. You can heal.’ Staying positive, holding on to faith and trusting that despite any setbacks I was still healing was so important.

What is one technique, therapy, or product that made a big difference for you?

I didn’t really have any techniques, therapies or products that I used.

How important is mindfulness and/or spirituality for healing? What does that look like for you?

This side of healing is something I am keen to explore further. Being on this healing journey has opened my mind and ignited my curiosity about spirituality. I am now talking to angels and attempting to meditate, something that I need a lot more practice in. I am learning to appreciate things like the warmth of the sun on my skin, the sounds of birds and the magic of the moon and stars.

What does your life look like right now in terms of your health?

I am now free from the symptoms of anxiety. No nausea, vomiting, fainting, racing heart or uncontrollable shaking. I don’t get panic attacks anymore. My heart doesn’t feel like it is going to jump out of my chest because of palpitations. I am sleeping more soundly now than I have in years. I do still have work to do to overcome some PTSD issues though. After living with severe anxiety for so long my brain is conditioned to thinking that certain situations will bring on a panic attack but I am working on this and already feel like I am making progress.

What is one piece of advice you'd like to share with those beginning their healing journeys?

It is ok to take baby steps. Be gentle with yourself, don’t push yourself too quickly into detox. Listen to your body and have compassion for yourself. There are going to be days when you don’t do things perfectly. Know you are doing the best you can.
