What does a coach do?
In today’s diverse world of wellness professionals, you may be a bit confused as to what all the labels and letters mean. That’s understandable- there’s a lot out there!
Simply put, a health coach is an individual that can act as a guide and personal cheerleader for your own healing transformation. A health coach is not a therapist or a doctor, and is not licensed to give diagnoses or prescribe medications. These special coaches can be a tremendously important part of your wellness team, and can work in tandem with your physician, naturopath, nutritionist, acupuncturist, and other professionals, to help you become your best self.
While a health coach can help you identify past mistakes and limiting beliefs, we generally like to focus on the present and the future, and we exist to listen to you, give you encouragement, and assist you in overcoming roadblocks on your path to your optimal health and vitality. Our job is to hold space for you to tap into your own inner vision of wellbeing, and create practical steps that you can take to accomplish that goal.
You can count on your health coach to help you:
- Get a clear and honest appraisal of your current circumstances
- Determine your personal goals and intentions for transformation
- Identify obstacles and challenges that stand in the way of these goals
Your personal coach is not here to judge you- we are not here to shame you for your past or punish you for your previous mistakes…in fact, we don’t even believe in mistakes! There are only choices. And the choices you’ve made, for whatever reasons, have brought you to this very place. Your choices are not inherently “right” or “wrong!” We’re all just doing our best with what information we have at the time, wherever we are on our individual paths. A health coach can help you learn from your choices, and provide friendly accountability in making new ones that serve your highest good and get you to where you want to be.
Health coaches are passionate about helping you find your own unique definition of wellness, while helping you tap into your inner sense of purpose and define your core values. Your coach should inspire you, validate you, and spark your inner craving for knowledge and personal empowerment. You can count on your health coach to provide tons of useful information and encourage more positive self-talk, boosting your belief in yourself and your ability to succeed!
